How to use the Grading Bands Checker

Board results are announced in grades — A+, A, B — but students think in marks, so the gap to the next grade is never obvious. This board grading bands checker for Pakistan matric marks converts your score to a percentage and shows exactly how many marks you are short of each higher band (A+, A, B). Use it after result day or mid-session to set a precise target for the remaining papers.

  1. Enter your obtained marks and the total marks in the two fields.
  2. Click Calculate to see your percentage.
  3. Read the shortfall lines to see how many marks you need for A+, A, and B bands.
  4. A negative shortfall means you have already secured that grade — aim for the next one up.

Formula

Percentage = Obtained ÷ Total × 100. Marks short of a band = (Band % × Total) − Obtained. Standard bands: A+ ≥ 90%, A ≥ 80%, B ≥ 70%, C ≥ 60%, D ≥ 50%, E ≥ 40%.

Worked example

With 950/1100 = 86.36%, the student holds grade A. Short of A+ (90%): 0.9 × 1100 − 950 = 40 marks needed. Short of B (70%): 770 − 950 = −180, confirming B is long secured. The target for the supplementary effort is clear: 40 more marks.

Frequently asked questions

The 90/80/70/60/50/40 bands are standard across Punjab boards and widely followed elsewhere, but always confirm with your own board's result gazette.

Punjab boards announce top position holders for matric and inter each year. This tool shows bands, not positions — positions depend on other students' scores.

There is no fixed grade; merit depends on the aggregate. Roughly, 90%+ (A+) keeps MBBS options open, while 80%+ keeps most engineering and CS programs in reach.
